I have never been much of a fan of candy, but one of my food guilty pleasures is dried fruit, which I love to eat as a snack or take with me when I am traveling. Recently, I had the pleasure of trying Stoneridge Orchards dried cherries. Up until this review I had never heard of Stoneridge Orchards, so you can imagine how impressed I was to find out that the family- owned company is based out of Washington and has been around since 1962 under the name Royal Ridge Fruit. Altogether Royal Ridge Fruits and Stoneridge Orchards produce over 10 million pounds of tart cherries a year. In addition to tart cherries, they also grow blueberries, raspberries, apples and pears, along with hay and wheat on their farms.
I have never cared for spicy food because I find it to be a bit overwhelming at times. With that being said I was very impressed with the taste of Chili Lime Cherries with Tajin® which are basically cherries that are seasoned with Tajin®, lime juice, and sea salt which give the fruit a mildly zesty and slightly sweet flavor. Although I had no problem eating the cherries directly from the bag as a healthy snack they taste even more delicious when added to a salad.
This is the berry mix that I take with me whenever I know I am going to be out for a while and need to take a snack with me. It is the perfect blend of super antioxidant dried berries such as blueberries, montmorency cherries and cranberries. This berry blend is also very versatile, my favorite way to include the berries is to add it to a cup of Forager Project’s plan cashew yogurt and top with pumpkin seeds.
