It still amazes me even at 36-years-old how we tend to find beauty in the unexpected small things in life. For example Mushrooms, we have all seen the run of the mill, white button or portobello that are typically sold at your local grocery store, but look a little closer and that mushroom might surprise you. Their are a beauty and complexity about mushrooms that too often goes unnoticed.
Four Sigmatic is a company that has made it their goal to change the perception of how we see mushrooms by sharing the beauty of these fungi and their amazing health benefits that have been studied for centuries.
I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to read Four Sigmatic’s new book Healing Mushrooms which is very well written and a must read, that is perfect for anyone who loves Four Sigmatic’s elixirs as much as I do or just wants to educate themselves a little more about the benefits of mushrooms before they try them. Written by Tero Isokauppila who is also the founder and president of Four Sigmatic, Healing Mushrooms has something for everyone by focusing on the ten most important well studied mushrooms that are known to help with day to day stress. The book is written in a way that entertains the reader while providing them with useful information that carries over into everyday life and food choices they make.
MUSHROOM COFFEE WITH LION’S MANE
My morning wouldn’t be complete without a mug of Mushroom Coffee
With Lions Mane. This premium coffee, which is organic is made with 100 percent Arabica gives it a nice smooth taste without the acidity. The combination of the coffee with Lions Mane has really done wonders when it comes to staying focused and not overwhelmed throughout the day. I like drinking it black, since it smells like freshly brewed coffee. I also like using it to make an iced coffee.
I’m not sure what I’d do without Chaga Elixir, whenever I’m feeling under the weather I can always rely on it to help make me feel better, since it does an amazing job boosting my immune system. The reason why Chaga Elixir is so effective is a result of Four Sigmatic’s pure wild-crafted Chaga mushroom which contains 1,500 mg of chaga extract in each serving and at least 30 percent polysaccharides (including more than 15 percent beta-glucans) and 2 percent triterpenes. My favorite way to use Chaga Elixir is by adding it to coffee or a fruit smoothie with cashew milk. Four Sigmatic’s website also has some really creative recipes to use Chaga Elixir with, for example “Courtney’s Chaga Miso Soup”, which is on my list of recipes to try.
