Natures Best Kept Secret: Skinny Coconut Oil

By Jodi Truglio — April 17, 2016

imageFor years I thought I was allergic to coconut oil when in reality I was actually allergic to cocoa.

I started using coconut oil again because of many health benefits however I was a bit turned off by how main stream it had become which many brands popping up in almost every store. It was hard to know which one to choose and I was concerned about how it was being sourced and processed.

Whenever I purchase a product it has to be vegan and ethically sourced. After a lot of research I came across Skinny Coconut Oil which is different than other brands on the market because of their patent-pending Nutralock System™, that crafts the only coconut oil under 100ºF. They also source their coconut oil from their own factory.

Skinny Coconut Oil was started 3-yeas-ago by two brothers Luke and Matt Geddie that ventured through Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, India, and Vietnam with a desire to see and experience everything nature had to provide. During their travels, they saw the opportunity to build a partnership that could benefit local business with 100% RAW coconut oil and partnered with Kim Vo in Vietnam. Together they formed a company to bring healthy foods to America while giving back to the people of Vietnam.

“We believe in the power of a tight-knit community. From our direct trade coconut oil to our team members and partners, we are building a community centered on high quality products with a higher purpose.”

Whipped Body Butter

imageCoconut oil is really good to use because it naturally moisturizes the skin and has antibacterial properties. When I first tried this body butter I loved how easily it absorbed into my skin after a shower, but for some reason after two weeks of daily use my skin started to burn and I had to discontinue use. I will probably try using the body butter on my body again since I am not really sure if it was the coconut oil that caused the reaction.

Ingredients: Skinny Coconut Oil, Organic Almond Oil, Proprietary Blend of Essential Oils, Lavender, Sweet Basil and Roman Chamomile.

Skinny Shampoo Bar

I love shampoo bars because of the zero waste and find that they tend imageto last longer when stored correctly compared liquid shampoo. However, I was a little skeptical about trying this bar because it contained so few ingredients, I wasn’t sure how effective it would be on my naturally curly hair.

What I like about bar is they use the same 100% RAW coconut oil that is sold for eating. The bar cleaned my hair and made it softer without the added chemicals or buildup you tend to get even with a shampoo that contains “natural” ingredients. I found that shampoo bar moisturized my hair, calmed the frizziness and added volume.

Coconut Oil Sugar Scrub

imageThe Coconut Sugar Scrub is one of my favorites. It smells so yummy and is made of 100% RAW coconut oil, coconut sugar and vanilla nothing else. I like that it contains three ingredients. Anyone who has used a body scrub in knows how difficult it can be to clean the shower, nbut this scrub dissolves quickly and goes down the drain and leaves no residue.

The scrub left my skin feeling really soft and glowing. My favorite way to use it is as a lip exfoliator.

The smell of Skinny Coconut Oil similar to opening up a fresh coconut. After using using this product line for about a month I can say this is the only brand I recommend to people because the quality surpasses other companies
