Some Unique Last-Minute Gift Ideas

By Jodi Truglio — December 21, 2012

Let’s face it. While some of us plan what we are going to give as our holiday gifts a month or two in advance, some of us get caught up in what’s going on in our own lives.  Time passes by fairly quickly and when you thought you had about a month to buy your gifts, the reality is you only have a few days.

Below are a few last minute gift suggestions that are sure to please just about anyone.

This super-moisturizing, eco-friendly lotion can be used on the face and body. It is made by hand in the UK or in Japan. The lotion is a perfect gift for the person who has everything, and comes in a wide selection of tins. The tin travels really well, and after the lotion is finished, you can reuse it.  For example, I use the tin to put my fragranced powder in. This is a gift I’d love to receive every year. STEAMCREAM products are available primarily at stores throughout the UK, but also throughout the world. Check their “Stocklists” tab for retail locations.

You can never go wrong when you buy someone a gift from LUSH because it’s personal, and reminds them to take some time out of their busy day to pamper themselves. LUSH products are available at stores throughout the world. They also have e-gift cards, so you can truly get a LUSH gift at the last minute. Below are three of my favorite LUSH products:

  • Let the Good Times Rolls ─ This facial cleanser smells like yummy kettle corn with a kick of warming cinnamon. What I like is that it is a very gentle scrub that is not harsh on your skin. When you use this product, it feels like a relaxing facial massage that deep cleans and leaves your skin glowing.
  • Massage BarsOut of all the products I buy from Lush, I would have to say that I get their massage bars most often. The bars are made with moisturizing butters and essential oils that melt directly on warm skin. They are great to give a massage with, but I like using them as an all-over lotion when my skin feels dry. I don’t like wearing perfume because it tends to be too heavy; I found that applying the massage bar to your pulse points will add just the right amount of fragrance without being too heavy. They have a scent called “Midnight Massage”for the holiday season.
  • Dream Cream Body Lotion ─ This is one of Lush’s best-selling lotions, and I can’t say enough good things about it. I have really sensitive skin and acne scarring. This lotion cleared up my skin in a matter of three weeks. If you know anyone with troubled skin, this is one of the best gifts you can buy for them because it calms the skin with oat milk, lavender and chamomile.

One of my favorite things about the holiday season is that it gives me an excuse to drink more tea than I normally would during the summer, which means trying new brands. Most of all, there is something just special about sharing a cup of tea with a friend on a cool winter day. It makes a great gift because you have the opportunity to be really creative and tailor it to the recipient’s personality or health needs if need be.  There are also some really nice affordable tea accessories currently on the market that you can add to your gift to make it unique. Below are a few organic Fair Trade teas I recommend:

Indie Tea is a family-owned tea company based in Las Vegas, NV. They specialize in loose-leaf, organic tea blends, herbal tisanes, and arTEAsan spice rubs. They have a large variety of unique teas blends with awesome names and artwork on the packaging.  Some of my favorites include “Mad Tea Party,” “Hoopla,” and “Wise Man’s Caravan.” Their teas are available in stores throughout the Las Vegas area, but also in other states.

Other well-known brands that I  really enjoy  drinking and that you can find in just about any Whole Foods are Numi and Rishi Tea.
